A FEW HELPFUL FACTS ABOUT VIDEO WALLS IN AUSTRALIA

There are some key differences between LCD and LED video walls. But first some clarification.

As the new generation of LCD screens use LED backlights in them, the terms LCD & LED have tended to become blurred together. For this we will use LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) for the large TV/monitor type screens, and LED (Light Emitting Diode) for this.

  • LCD video walls are used where high resolution is required. This will give clear easy to read text and sharp images.
  • Not all LCD screens will create a great video wall. LCD screens specifically designed for video wall use have extremely thin bezels that give only a very fine line between each adjoining screen.
  • When installing, an LCD video wall provision for accessing the rear of each screen must be made in the mounting design, without the need to remove others around it.
  • How the screens are connected for input cane affect not only the quality of the image, but the flexibility of use.
  • Often, the cheapest option turns out to be the most expensive in the end.
  • LED displays consists of a matrix of LEDs (pixels) that, when joined together make up one large visually seamless screen.
  • LED screens resolution is much coarser then a LCD screen. LED screen resolution is given as pixel spacing; i.e. a P10 has pixels spaced at 10mm, P6 at 6mm, P2.5 at 2.5mm. You get the picture.
  • LED screens are also much brighter then LCD screens, although the brightness can be controlled.
  • At larger size displays, LED screens are generally more economical.
  • LED screens are available with rear or front access giving greater flexibility in installation design.
  • LED screens are best for viewing from a distance and are not suited for close viewing of fine detail.

Unsure which will be best for your requirements? We can help you with that. As for projectors; these are still best suited to dark or dim situations. To ensure that your display is flawless. Contact us for more information and for your digital signage needs.
